Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will produce Google’s next Tensor G5 chipset after the company changes its chip production strategy. Unlike before, this deal separates Google from Samsung, the main company that makes Google’s Tensor chips such as the upcoming Tensor G4. Because Samsung ran into problems using its 3nm GAA process, it might be the end of the Tensor series, as making the G4 has been delayed, cost more and produced less efficiently.

TSMC is a well-known company in the chip industry, due to its standard technology and consistency and provides chips to companies such as Apple, Qualcomm and MediaTek. By joining forces with TSMC, Google is demonstrating its desire to make its devices faster and use less energy. Google and TSMC established their partnership in late May 2025, when meetings in Taiwan concluded with a five-year deal to ensure continued chip delivery.

The Tensor G5 chipset, powered by TSMC’s advanced manufacturing, will debut in Google’s Pixel 10 series, set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. This collaboration is poised to shape the performance and capabilities of Google’s Pixel phones and tablets for the next two to three years.

The third generation of TSMC’s 3nm process called N3P, remains the top choice for most mainline devices in 2025. In April, the firm also took orders for its pioneering 2nm technology, strengthening its position in the industry. By working with TSMC, Google aims to provide superior quality, more power efficiency and better performance to users as part of its growing hardware strategy.
